TikTok Community Comes to Aid For People With Parkinson’s

Mind Buzz By Sabrina / June, 30, 2025

Internet is a place if used consciously can help many people and an environment of love, peace and security can be formed. The same happened with Jimmy Choi is a 37-year-old, who has Parkinson’s disease. But he has more to his identity than that. He has appeared on four seasons of American Ninja Warrior, completed over 100 half marathons and 16 full marathons.

Other than that, he has accomplished countless other fitness-related achievements. But very early in his life, he was diagnosed with Parkinson’s. He was just 27-years-old when he discovered that he will be battling a chronic ailment. But that did not limit him. He is an inspiration to people who think having a chronic disease is the end of the world. It is not.

It is on you how you perceive things, and Jimmy Choi has set an example. He shares his journey on how he battles and faces his challenges. He demonstrates that no diagnosis should stop you from doing things you love. And he is extremely vocal about all his challenges. Through this, he helps others facing the challenges of the same diagnosis. He ensures that he reaches as many people as possible and ensure them that they are not alone.

But in a recent video on TikTok, he expressed his frustration about pill bottles. And the TikTok community came to his help. He could see how difficult it was for him to use the tinny pill bottles when it had something so important considering his diagnosis. The word spread in the TikTok community and Brian Alldridge, a designer came forward to help him. He created an amazing solution to his pill problem. But due to insufficient resources, he could not give him the prototype.

But the lack of a 3-D printer did not stop the designer. He posted the solution in his community and further David Exler picked up from where Brian Alldridge left. The designer turned into a reality. Exler is willing to ship his product to anyone in need in exchange for a donation to the Michael J. Fox Foundation.

Jimmy shared his thoughts on the same and said: “It is truly amazing to see how the community jumped in. Folks that have no connection to Parkinson’s decided, ‘Hey, you know what? I have an idea. And here’s the idea.’ And then other folks jump in and say, ‘Hey, I love your idea. I can help you with that,’ and next thing you know, we’ve got a prototype within days.”

Brian Alldridge has decided not to stop with just one prototype. He has decided to help as many people with the same diagnosis as he can and ensure that the proceedings go to non-profits. He has even worked out all the details with an attorney and the design will remain open so that others can get help through it.
